Real Conversations: Supporting Youth and Preventing Substance Misuse
Craftsbury Schools and Healthy Lamoille Valley invite the community to an interactive evening of honest conversations about the issue, learning about resources, and finding solutions together. The evening includes a pizza dinner, door prizes, and raffles!
Askable Adult Workshop at Cambridge Community Center
Healthy Lamoille Valley and Clarina Howard Nichols Center are facilitating a two-part Askable Adult workshop on how to build trusting and affirming relationships between youth and adults on Tuesday, March 12th and 19th 2024 from 5:00-6:30 PM. Please register online by March 10th.
Strategies and Tips for Retailers
Healthy Lamoille Valley’s coordinator Jessica Bickford recently got to sit down with a team from Vermont Department of Liquor and Lottery with a goal of finding strategies and tips for local retailers who want to help prevent youth access to alcohol and tobacco products while reducing their financial losses. Prevention Works! VT 2024 Virtual Advocacy Training
January 12th at noon, Prevention Works! VT 2024 Virtual Advocacy Training will provide space for prevention staff and stakeholders to better understand the statewide legislative process, how to get involved, and how to provide strong advocacy for prevention-based initiatives. By strengthening advocacy skills and knowledge, participants will gain expertise on how to stand up for the causes they care most about. Learn more and register.
Lunch and Learn: Prevention Planning Toolkit
Please join Healthy Lamoille Valley for a virtual lunch and learn on Wednesday, January 24th, from 12:00-1:00PM and find out how to make the most of the new edition of the Community Planning Toolkit: Preventing Youth Substance Misuse and Building Protective Factors. Gain up to date insight on current data and how to prevent youth substance misuse in our community and in a variety of settings.
Youth Matter Campaign
Help show youth they matter in our community! The Youth Matter campaign was created using feedback and quotes from the Lamoille Middle School Youth Coalition and GMTCC Allied Health students. Posters will be distributed in the community by youth and are available for download with Lamoille County and Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union specific data.
Substance Prevention 101
The Vermont Department of Health, Division of Substance Use Programs, in partnership with the Northeast Vermont Prevention Consortium Prevention Lead Region 3, will be hosting 3 virtual Prevention 101 trainings. This training will provide an introduction to substance misuse prevention and demonstrate how to use prevention concepts to support community change.
