Quitting smoking isn’t easy. It takes time. And a plan. You don’t have to stop smoking in one day. Start with day one. Let the Great American Smokeout event on November 17th be your day to start your journey toward a smoke-free life. You’ll be joining thousands of people who smoke across the country in taking an important step toward a healthier life.
Parents and children who communicate early and often with each other have a positive effect on keeping kids safe from underage substance use. In support of National Youth Substance Use Prevention Month, we’re highlighting resources from the “Talk. They Hear You.” campaign to help parents and caregivers get the help they need to make these conversations work.
3rd-8th graders complete and submit all 6 Share Your Why activity sheets for a $30 valued prize: an art supply kit or gift certificate to Power Play Sports. Deadline – December 30th, 2022. These activity sheets are a way for you to explore new interests and deepen ones you already have with the option to share those interests with other local youth.
National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, October 29th, from 10:00am – 2:00pm. This is a great opportunity to turn in your unwanted, unused, or expired medications. You can also bring in your vape pens and other e-cigarette devices (sites will only accept devices with the batteries removed).
Community members of all ages are invited to join us for our Fall Coalition Meeting! Celebrating our 2022 Prevention Honorees and our Live Your Why and TimeWise programs. Family-friendly, interactive community event at River Arts with special guest speaker and honoree, Dr. Linda Caldwell. The theme of the evening is supporting youth, families and community members of all ages in making the most of their time.
