Welcome Jeff Hunsberger!
I’m excited to begin working and connecting with you all in a slightly new capacity. I have the honor of welcoming HLV staff and programming into the Youth & Young Adult Programs at Lamoille Family Center. Although my initial management responsibilities are, at this point, at an interim level, we are working to decide over time if we will keep the current staffing configuration or consider another. As this process unfolds over time, we will work hard to ensure that we are maintaining our momentum.

You’re Invited! October Kick-off!
You’re invited to Healthy Lamoille Valley’s Fall Kickoff Breakfast on Tuesday, October 27 from 8:30–10:00 AM at the Green Mountain Technology and Career Center! This event brings together local youth, educators, legislators, coalition members, and community partners for an interactive morning focused on connection, youth voice, and prevention. Rather than a traditional presentation-heavy event, our goal is to create opportunities for youth, legislators, and community members to talk with one another, ask questions, share perspectives, and build relationships.

We Were at the Green Mountain Tech Fair!
Healthy Lamoille Valley was excited to take part in this year’s Green Mountain Tech Fair on May 29th. We invited students to reflect on the question, “What helps you grow?” Using plants as a parallel, students were encouraged to think about the supports, strengths, relationships, and healthy choices that can help them grow and thrive.

May Coalition Meeting Follow-up
Thank you to everyone who joined our May coalition meeting on the topic of tobacco and nicotine. It was a great conversation with strong engagement, thoughtful discussion, and renewed energy around our shared efforts across the Lamoille Valley. We were especially excited to welcome a diversity of partners and perspectives to the table. The meeting was also covered by a local reporter, and we appreciate everyone who contributed to the discussion and helped highlight the importance of this work in our communities.
Refusal Skills You Can Use
Our Youth Substance Prevention Coordinator Carrie Patterson has facilitated approximately 20 refusal skills workshops for 6th graders across the Lamoille Valley Region this spring. These interactive workshops help students build practical tools for handling peer pressure, making healthy choices, and saying “no” confidently, especially in situations related to substance use.
