Keep Kids and Teens Safe this Winter
The days are getting shorter and the nights are getting colder here in Vermont. It’s a good time to gather with your family, friends, and community. As we enter the winter holiday season, it’s also a good time to make a plan to keep kids and teens safe by securing adult-use substances in your home and at gatherings.
Prevention Sponsorships Available!
Healthy Lamoille Valley is pleased to offer prevention sponsorships to the Lamoille Valley community, made available from the Region 3 Vermont Prevention Lead Organization grant, supporting prevention across the lifespan. This year we have $5,000 available to be given out in increments of $250 – $500, to be used by June 30th, 2026.
Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week takes place October 23rd –31st and highlights the importance of living a drug-free life. It provides an opportunity for parents, educators, and communities to reinforce the drug-free messages they share with children throughout the year.
National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on October 25th is a great opportunity to turn in your unwanted, unused, or expired medications. You don’t have to wait until then to safely dispose of your unused or unwanted prescription drugs. Visit any of these year-round prescription drug drop off boxes at your convenience.
Take Action for the Great American Smokeout!
On November 20th, join us in making the Great American Smokeout, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, a hands-on event across the Lamoille Valley! Together, we can reduce tobacco, vape, and nicotine use while protecting our communities and environment. Every cleanup, policy change, and supportive action makes a difference!
Free Training for Prevention Professionals
The Introduction to the Prevention Core Competencies for Prevention Professionals, covers the foundations of substance use prevention science for early and mid-career prevention professionals. The two and a half day workshop is appropriate for prevention professionals, school based prevention staff (SAPs), recovery staff, board members, and other community partners.
Connect for Action: October Kick-off Event!
We’re bringing the community together to build meaningful connections between local youth, legislators, and community members. We will explore how to create healthier communities and healthier lives for youth starting with questions contributed by youth and legislators. This fun and interactive event is open to all! Breakfast provided by Green Mountain Tech’s Culinary Program.
