Healthy Lamoille Valley Community Planning Toolkit
The Community Planning Toolkit is a community planning guide focusing on reducing youth misuse of alcohol, tobacco, cannabis and prescription drugs, while supporting efforts to help youth make healthy substance-free choices. There are many factors, including the individuals, family, organizations, businesses, and systems level policies that impact substance prevention. This Toolkit highlights stakeholders from across the community demonstrating the role we each have to play.

Healthy Lamoille Valley Coaches Handbook
This handbook is designed for coaches, league administrators, athletic directors, school and community counselors, student support staff, parents and guardians, and referees. The 2nd edition builds on the first edition designed for elementary age youth sports and expands to support those working with middle and high school athletes with topics including:
- standard pregame sportsmanship & inclusion statement
- equity in youth sports and building a culture of respect
- coaches as protective factors and the science behind risk and protective factors
- parent and athlete communication support
- the “Huddle Up” Program for team check-ins and connection
- tools for reflection, accountability, and planning

Healthy Lamoille Valley Conversation Guide
A Guide to Having Conversations with Youth about Substance Use and Mental Health has been compiled with Involvement from Lamoille Valley Youth, Educators, and Health Care Professionals, and is intended for Lamoille Valley educators and those who work with youth to provide a common language across sectors. Use this guide in conjunction with your organization’s policies and procedures. If anything in this guide conflicts with those, please defer to your organization’s policies. This project was funded through the Vermont Department of Health, Division of Substance Use Programs’ Youth Vape Prevention grant.
