Healthy Lamoille Valley is pleased to offer prevention sponsorships to the Lamoille Valley community, made available from the Region 3 Vermont Prevention Lead Organization grant, supporting prevention across the lifespan. We recently asked our Prevention Sponsorship recipients for their success stories. Check out the positive impact of this community-level funding!
Teen Lit Mob
“I truly appreciate the Healthy Lamoille Valley Prevention Sponsorship Committee’s support of this project. This funding will make it possible for our students to attend Teen Lit Mob and participate in a screen-free day of connection, creativity, and reading with authors and peers from across Vermont.” – Shaun Noonan
Bone Builders
“A big THANK YOU to the Northeast VT Prevention Consortium for the grant that paid for the weights and to Jessica Bickford of Healthy Lamoille Valley for steering us toward the grant. Both organizations have the wellbeing of elders as part of their mission, and we at Bone Builders are feeling well cared for.” – Linda Molde
Iyengar Yoga Breath Series
“I believe all the women benefited from the practice gaining new insight and understanding on their bodies, breath and feeling a sense of calm in their minds by the end of each practice. I believe this series bolstered up and created a new tool in their tool box for self regulation and care.” – Kara Rosa

Allied Health HOSA State Leadership Conference
“Allied Health competed in the HOSA State Leadership Conference (SLC) in February. 13 students competed in skills such as Nursing Assistant, Mental Health Promotion, Health Career Photography, CPR/First Aid, Medical Reading, Behavioral Health, and Health Career Display. 8 students won medals at the state level. We had a gold and bronze winner for Nursing Assistant, gold in Mental Health Promotion, Silver in Health Career Photography, and bronze in Behavioral Health. This is our 4th year in a row winning gold in Nursing Assistant and 3rd year in a row for Mental Health Promotion at the state level. As a result, 7 students are going to Indianapolis this summer to compete at the HOSA International Conference in June. There will be over 13,000 students attending this conference. It is going to be a great experience for students to travel outside our state and network with so many other students from around the world.” – Heidi Richard
Wellness for Students
“The mindfulness/yoga class that was offered to high school students at our school had a small number of participants (it was the first year though!) and was canceled a few times due to weather (because of the skiers/boarders), that being said, it was amazing and powerful! Thanks to the scholarship from Healthy Lamoille Valley, I was able to offer students bolsters, blankets and blocks so that they could be comfortable and able to deeply relax. These props added to the success of teaching various methods of mindfulness, meditation and restorative yoga to be able to better handle life’s difficulties and manage past/current trauma (versus just sitting or laying on a yoga mat).” – Shelley Thomas
Norah’s Beads
“Yesterday we held our second Norah’s Beads event at Lamoille North HS/MS, and we were incredibly encouraged at the turn-out: we had 30 individuals attend! This brings the total of attendance across two events to 37.” – Aurora River
(Norah’s beads promotes conversations around mental illness, suicide prevention, wellness, and resiliency)
