This month, our conversation will focus on summer youth opportunities and safe celebrations around after prom and graduation. As we look ahead to the coming months, we know that summer can bring both opportunity and challenge for youth and families. While summer can be a time for fun, connection, and rest, it can also be a time when some youth experience boredom, disconnection, or limited access to activities and support.

This conversation is not about creating a whole new set of programs. Rather, we hope to bring community partners together to:

  • identify summer opportunities, activities, and informal ideas for youth
  • brainstorm ideas for safe, positive celebrations around after prom and post-graduation
  • explore simple ways we can better share opportunities and support youth across our communities

As part of this conversation, Healthy Lamoille Valley is also beginning to gather ideas for a community-informed summer “things to do” list for youth and families. We would love to have a mix of voices at the table, including schools, libraries, recreation, youth-serving organizations, community partners, and others who may have ideas or perspective to share. If this topic connects with your work or perspective, we’d be glad to have you join us. We recognize that this falls during school break week and understand that you may not be able to attend. Even if you’re unable to join us, we would still welcome your ideas and input as we begin gathering information for this work.
