Substance Prevention 101
The Vermont Department of Health, Division of Substance Use Programs, in partnership with the Northeast Vermont Prevention Consortium Prevention Lead Region 3, will be hosting 3 virtual Prevention 101 trainings. This training will provide an introduction to substance misuse prevention and demonstrate how to use prevention concepts to support community change.
Engaged and Empowering Strategic Planning!
On October 24th, Allied Health students from Green Mountain Tech & Career Center, Lamoille Union High School and Peoples Academy, and community partners from schools, youth-serving organizations, and drug & alcohol treatment and recovery services participated in Healthy Lamoille Valley’s Action Planning event at Green Mountain Support Services with the goal of strategically planning to prevent youth alcohol misuse.
Coalition Spotlight: Stowe Bulletin Board Project
This month we’re happy to spotlight a wonderful community collaboration between Healthy Lamoille Valley Youth Council and Steering Team member Fletcher Lewton and coalition member Stowe Middle and High School Nurse Elise Rozendaal. They created a series of bulletin boards highlighting important health information and sparking conversation and interest from students. We asked Elise for insights into the process.

Each year Healthy Lamoille Valley honors individuals and groups that have made significant contributions in time and effort to supporting a healthy Lamoille Valley community and working towards the reduction of youth substance misuse. Honorees represent the full engagement of the Healthy Lamoille Valley coalition across individuals, businesses, organizations, and volunteer collaborations. Healthy Lamoille Valley Receives Blue Ribbon Award for Outstanding Work
Healthy Lamoille Valley was invited to Washington, D.C. and recognized for our outstanding work in preventing youth substance use. We were one of 15 Drug-Free Community Coalitions from across the country receiving a Blue Ribbon Award from the White House at the National Youth Substance Use Prevention Summit celebrating 25 years of the Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program.
