Local Data & Information Sources
Local data provides us with a snapshot of the issues we work to address. Here are some of the sources we consult:
Vermont Department of Health Data Briefs
Full listing of VT Dept of Health data briefs are available here: www.healthvermont.gov/alcohol-drugs/reports/data-and-reports
Vermont Youth Risk Behavior Survey
Every two years since 1993, the Department of Health’s Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Programs, and the Department of Education’s Coordinated School Health Programs have sponsored the Vermont Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS).
The YRBS measures the prevalence of behaviors that contribute to the leading causes of death, disease, and injury among youth. The YRBS is part of a larger effort to help communities increase the “resiliency” of young people by reducing high risk behaviors and promoting healthy behaviors.
Healthy Vermonters 2020
Healthy Vermonters 2020 is the State Health Assessment Plan that documents the health status of Vermonters at the start of the decade, and the population health indicators and goals that will guide the work of public health through 2020.
Below are some examples of the data they provide.
DataResourceSheet_2_9_16 (2)
This sheet is a list of data resources available to the public on the Health Department website. It includes Scorecards, Dashboards, Surveys and Special Reports. Scorecards and dashboards are what the Health Department uses in order to track and monitor indicators and performance measures related to Healthy Vermonters 2020 and the Strategic Plan.
Some of the surveys included in this sheet are the National Survey on Drug Use and Health and the College Health Survey. There are also several special reports including the Regional Prevention Profiles and the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Programs Strategic Plan.
